Job Description:
In this position as a Staff Accountant, you will support the accounting team in executing general ledger and financial reporting tasks within a federal environment. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a foundational understanding of federal accounting principles. In this position, you will also:
- Assist in identifying and documenting financial abnormalities and compiling audit-ready support.
- Perform reconciliations across various financial systems and monitor monthly trading partner differences.
- Help prepare adjusting journal entries and compile variance analysis with supporting explanations.
- Support the review and update of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and monthly reconciliation activities for Treasury account symbols.
- Contribute to efforts to enhance accounts receivable loss allowance methodologies.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 2 years of federal accounting experience.
- 1 year of experience with federal financial reporting, general ledger systems, and financial reconciliation.
Desired Skills:
- Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) certification preferred.
- Excellent written communication skills and experience drafting audit-ready documentation.
- Proven ability to review and enhance SOPs for clarity and compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems such as FMMI and FSDW.
- Familiarity with federal financial systems, including REE adjustments, NIFA reconciliations, and intradepartmental protocols.
- Skilled in analyzing complex financial data, developing AR loss allowance methodologies, and managing competing priorities with strong attention to detail.
At Blake Willson Group, we believe in transparency and fairness in compensation practices. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $50,000 to $80,000 in the United States. Your individual salary within this range will be determined by various factors, including but not limited to your education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
