Manages assigned staff members of the Client Data Management team to ensure company standards for production and quality are met.  Collaborates with other leaders in Ops to raise concerns and develop solutions for data challenges and issues.  Provides technical expertise so that client data is compliant with treaty agreements, Model Audit Rule (MAR) controls, and industry standards.  Supports the AVP, Client Data in the direction and administration of client data management through the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure department objectives and expectations of downstream consumers of data are met.  Leads the CDM team in the use of the Zenith application and represents the US in the global Zenith community.

Essential Functions:

(50%) Production Management

•    Provides leadership to team members to ensure the success of their production work; monitors established productivity and quality measures and shares feedback with the team to assess any opportunities for enhancements.
•    Researches complex issues and creates documentation to capture details for issue resolution and communication. Initiates action to identify customer service problems, possible solutions and implements within scope of authority. Learns and understands needs of key stakeholders to support their use of client data. 
•    Leverages expertise to manage work items in defect management tool as they relate to Client Data Management systems, including Zenith.  Leads any testing activities associated with bugs and evolutions within the Client Data Management applications, including Zenith. Approves requirements to system application changes and process refinements to support data integrity objectives.  
•    Ensure use of Zenith and associated business processes is clear and in line with the data quality and throughput goals of CDM and downstream systems and processes.

(30%) Staff & Talent Managment

•    Manages performance of team to include mentoring, training, consistent one-on-one meetings, employee development, establishing goals, managing work schedules and conducting performance reviews to provide clear expectations and guidance.
•    Ensures cross-training on critical processes and looks for opportunities to delegate to support talent development.
•    Participates in screening for new hires and provides recommendations to VP, Operations on hiring decisions to ensure candidate’s success in the new role. 
•    Provides requested metrics to support annual staffing analysis, KPIs/KRIs, and key volumes reporting. Identifies and implements operational efficiencies to meet strategic objectives surrounding lean organization.
•    Recognizes and communicates excellent performance.  Keeps team informed of Hannover Re’s initiatives and policies to ensure compliance and employee engagement.

(20%) Stakeholder & Compliance Management

•    Communicates client data related business decisions to stakeholders, defining the issue, recommending solutions and quantifying the impacts of the recommended solution to enhance confidence with business partners.
•    Helps establish appropriate MAR internal audit controls for the Client Data Management function. Ensures team member’s compliance with quality controls and documentation to support requirements of the annual audit reviews. 
•    Consults with key stakeholders to develop service levels.  Monitors metrics to measure adherence to these established service levels so that stakeholder can be kept apprised.

Essential knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of life insurance, reinsurance or other related experience  
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory/management or leadership experience
  • Strong working knowledge of reinsurance operations and administrative business
  • Strong analytical, data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and customer service skills   
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and work independently
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel
