Key Responsibilities:
The Production Manager is responsible for the safety of the employees in their department, producing products that meet or exceed the company’s quality standards and customer expectations while meeting delivery commitment dates for customers at the best possible cost. The production manager is an effective communicator and understands the products being produced and employs the means to deliver upon key performance indicators. Other key responsibilities include the following:
• Drives departmental safety, ensuring all are aware of and follow company PPE practices and safety policies
• Ensures product quality through audits and in process quality checks
• Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) and communicates to his team status of those KPIs through effective production board use and daily team huddles
• Communicates weekly at a minimum with key stakeholders on order status and coordinates delivery dates
• Proficient in SAP transactions and ensures transaction discipline by getting today’s work done today
• Monitors all back orders and provides updates to changes to agree upon commitments to customers
• Recommends suitable material substitutions when needed
• Reviews BOMs for accuracy and provides corrective feedback to Engineering
• Utilize lean tools to improve safety, quality, delivery, and lower department production costs
• Recommends capital improvements to the plant manager as part of the annual Capex process
• Effectively identifies labor needs to ensure the department is properly staffed to meet customer needs
• Collaborates with the Plant Manager(s) to ensure results align with the overall site operational strategy
• Facilitates coordinated improvement process using lean principles to provide competitive manufacturing advantages.
• Develops, establishes and communicates performance targets and measurements for the manufacturing team.
• Performs any additional duties as requested by the Plant Manager
JOB SCOPE:
• The tasks mentioned above are performed at intervals needed to gain the most impactful results.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This position leads, manages, and supervises the manufacturing teams while coordinating with the production control coordinator, inventory control specialist/supervisor, and site dispatcher.
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
• The manger collaborates with all employees, external business partners, government entities, industry non-profit organizations, customers and owners of all projects as needed.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus 10-12 years of experience in a manufacturing management role or;
• Bachelor Degree plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing management role or equivalent manufacturing management experience.
• ACI Field Grade 1 Certification preferred.
