#XPLORER 2026- Optimisation of composite domes under negative pressure considering buckling
AirbusAbout the role
Job Description:
Ready to join one of our Airbus Programs in Spain?
AIRBUS offers an internship (curricular practicum) program aimed at students who are in the last year of their degree with the main objective of acquiring professional skills through the development of a project in the company.
What do we offer?: Internship (curricular practicum) program + Bachelor’s Degree Final Project (TFG).
Mission: You will prepare a final year training project that will allow you to complete your official studies.
About practical training:
6 months of curricular internships at AIRBUS from February to July 2026
Part time: 5h / day - 25 hours per week (8h-13h)
Tutor assignment for continuous monitoring
Project to be carried out by the student:
You will join the liquified hydrogen CFRP tank R&T project performing stress analysis in order to optimise the shape and the reinforcements of CFRP domes under negative pressure. . The trades will be performed through a multidisciplinary approach including materials and processes, design, manufacturing and assembly aspects. From a stress perspective, the studies will be performed using both analytical approaches and Finite Element Model (Abaqus) simulations to understand key drivers of idealised and real (incl manufacturing constraints) domes configurations made of composite materials.
You will learn about buckling analysis, composite material properties and design and manufacturing related principles. Your contribution will play a significant role in the development of a low carbon footprint aviation through H2 development.
In the context of the development of LH2 tanks for aviation, the student will support architecture trades for vessel optimization by performing the associated stress analysis. The focus will be the buckling behaviour including manufacturing imperfections that drives the sizing of those parts.
