Foot & Ankle Associate is part of Balance Health, the nation’s premier comprehensive lower-extremity focused Physician Practice located area. Our team is seeking to hire a reliable, experienced Certified Medical Assistant ‘CMA’ with current registration number who will also train to become an MRI Tech. This role is full time and will be based in our Los Gatos, California office.
POSITION SUMMARY: Works alongside physicians and assists with patient care. Includes taking basic vital signs, preparing exam room, verifying patient information, assisting with in-office procedures, and scheduling the patient’s next appointment. The selected CMA candidate is expected to train and become a certified MRI Technician. This will include training of 56 hours on MRI particle physics and training for 150 MRI cases then will test to acquire certification. Once certified, they will have solo responsibility for the function and will report to The Technical Director. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
CMA Responsibilities:
- Greet patients on the phone and in person.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, take vital signs and perform ancillary tests per direction and appropriate to skill level.
- Assists providers and sets up for providers during examination, treatment, and procedures.
- Keep accurate patient files.
- Apply dressing, bandages, and splints as ordered by provider.
- Ensure rooms are properly stocked with necessary supplies.
- Maintain a sanitized and safe working environment per established standards / guidelines.
- Understands the importance of and maintains HIPAA requirements at all times.
- Coordination of services between multiple practices demonstrable by excellent communication skills.
- Schedules appointments as needed.
- Communicates clearly on the phone and accurately documents and assigns messages.
- Confirms and updates contact information for all patients at every contact.
- Makes follow-up calls for any messages left on office answering machine.
- Documents appointment visit status, including rescheduled, cancelled, confirmed, left voice message, or any other status as appropriate.
- May assist with front office responsibilities as needed.
- Performs other medical assistant duties as necessary.
MRI Tech Responsibilities:
- Train to become fully capable of solo operation of magnetic resonance imaging ‘MRI’ equipment to produce cross-sectional images (photographs) of patient's body for diagnostic purposes. Under the direction of the Technical Director, with latitude for independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative once certified will perform related technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care utilizing efficient and safe processes.
- Good knowledge of Human Anatomy and computer software knowledge
- Experience working with CT scan and MRI scan, going through scans / following instructions
- 100% Onsite role in Los Gatos, CA, day shift Monday to Friday
- Will work on segmentation , interpretation of MRI and CT scan images
- Human Biology background that can identify anatomy from CT / other scans
- Review CT/ MRI Scans, identify and draw anatomy parts using software to make 3d model.
QUALIFICATIONS: [Education, Training, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Expected Behaviors]
Required:
- 3+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant; MA Certification with current registration number as a CMA; and High-school diploma or equivalent.
- Desire / initiative to train as an MRI Tech provided by the company (anticipate approximately 3 weeks for initial training with one week in Chicago and additional 1-2 weeks at Los Gatos with Trainer to help program the unit and train MRI tech on the specific unit.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
- Responds appropriately to emergencies.
- Adapts to advancement and changing technology.
- Ability to show attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.
- Experience working in an outpatient practice.
- Able to coordinate services, assist patients within the office, with medications and procedure authorizations and effectively explain processes to patients.
