Scope of Position:
The Client Services Resource Navigator must possess the skills and desire to coordinate available resources from outside The Salvation Army and marry them with available resources within The Salvation Army to ensure clients have every opportunity to change their lives. This position requires a constant working relationship with community partners to help bridge the gap from The Salvation Army provided direct support services and other necessary goods and services the client needs for a successful transition out of homelessness and/or to maintain a stable life.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Must demonstrate a passion for and be familiar with The Salvation Army’s mission; must represent the ideals of The Salvation Army in every aspect of the employee’s work.
- Must be able to manage a variety of projects at any given time.
- Must be able to work in an environment that is busy and must be able to work despite interruptions and surrounding activities.
- Must be able to work outside in all local weather climates. This includes being active in community events year-round.
- The ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule. The employee must demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the functions of the employee’s position.
- The Salvation Army takes HIPPA privacy rules very seriously. All employees are required to adhere to current confidentiality policies for both HIPPA and The Salvation Army. This position requires a criminal history information check. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.
- This work entails all demographics and all socioeconomic backgrounds. You must be prepared to interact with fellow staff, donors, clients both houseless and housed, granters, community partners and others during your day.
- The following equipment may be used: telephone, computer equipment, fax/copy machine, and 10 -key calculator. Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds will occur.
- Must regularly exercise discretion and judgment with the employee’s personal contacts and approach to each individual or family. The employee should recognize when a situation should be deferred to a coworker, when there is a conflict of interest or a blurred line that should not be crossed. Resource Navigation entails having contact with anyone in need, and if there is a conflict of interest you need to remove yourself and notify your supervisor immediately.
