The Sr. EDA/CAD Engineer will be responsible for supporting and enhancing circuit design EDA tools and process design kits (PDKs) for Analog, RF, Mixed-Signal, and Digital design flows using Cadence, Mentor, and other tools. The candidate is expected to possess necessary programming skills and circuit design flow knowledge to allow him/her to support, develop, and enhance the EDA tools and the associated PDKs as well as develop new custom tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new custom EDA tool enhancements using scripting
• Frontline support for design team for debugging and developing productivity enhancements\
• Maintain, install, and upgrade existing CAD tools
• Configure and install foundry PDKs
• Proactively drive and resolve tool bugs
• Evaluate new EDA tools by interacting with EDA vendor FAEs
• Assist in tape out process including DRC, LVS, ERC verification flows
• Manage porting designs and IPs to different technology nodes

Job Requirements

• BSEE and a minimum of five years of direct experience required
• Deep knowledge of Cadence Virtuoso Platform including pCells, physical verification and extraction flows
• Hands on experience with scripting and software development tools (SKILL, Perl, Tcl, C++)
• Highly capable in Linux/Unit operating systems
• Working knowledge of IC management revision control
• Experience with DRC/LVS and extraction flow and rules decks
• Experience with Mentor Calibre DRC/LVS and xRC flows
• Familiarity with compute server grid systems and server load balancing solutions
• Familiarity with job monitoring and related software workload tracking tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Team player with a passion for quality and a strong sense of urgency and pride in their work

Desirable Skills

• Expert in Cadence Virtuoso Design Framework (dfII), including flow automation with SKILL, various ADE tools and PDKs
• Deep experience in Cadence Spectre, Layout XL, Genus, Innovus, Tempus and Voltus environments
