Salary Range: $142,116.00-$177,658.00       

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

The Senior Director of Architecture - Business Systems is a senior leadership role under the Chief Enterprise Architect, responsible for shaping and executing SEPTA's enterprise architecture strategy for corporate business systems. This position leads to the design, governance, and modernization of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Employee Workflow, Workforce Automation, Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), and Procurement platforms.
A key focus of this role is supporting the ERP transformation, ensuring its successful modernization and integration across SEPTA's enterprise. The Senior Director works closely with peer Senior Directors for Vehicle Technology Systems and Revenue Systems to deliver an aligned, secure, and scalable enterprise architecture.
 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides strategic direction for business architecture to ensure alignment with SEPTA's long-term enterprise goals.
  2. Leads architecture governance by applying TOGAF principles and chairing the Architecture Review Board
  3. (ARB).
  4. Drives ERP transformation initiatives that support business process redesign, data standardization, and cloud adoption.
  5. Collaborates with ERP program teams to facilitate seamless migration from legacy systems to modem platforms.
  6. Partners with senior leadership to integrate business systems with operational and revenue technologies.
  7. Maintains the Enterprise Business Platforms Roadmap, prioritizing initiatives based on ROI and business value.
  8. Modernizes ERP systems to streamline finance, HR, payroll, and procurement operations.
  9. Expands workforce automation to improve onboarding, scheduling, and employee self-service capabilities.
  10. Optimizes employee workflows by automating repeatable tasks and eliminating process bottlenecks.
  11. Enhances CRM platforms to improve customer engagement and service delivery.
  12. Advances Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems to support predictive maintenance and asset lifecycle optimization.
  13. Ensures secure and interoperable integration across business, operational, and revenue platforms.
  14. Promotes innovation through the use of AI, analytics, and automation to boost efficiency and productivity.
  15. Remediates technical debt to simplify system landscapes and mitigate risk.
  16. Defines and enforces data architecture standards to uphold data integrity and accessibility.
  17. Reports progress, risks, and compliance metrics to the Chief Enterprise Architect and governance committees.
  18. Leads and mentors a high-performing architecture team with expertise in ERP transformation and integration.
  19. Demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills to build alignment across technical teams, business units, and executive stakeholders.
     

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field required; 
  • Minimum 15 years in IT leadership, with at least 7 years in enterprise architecture roles.
  • Proven experience leading ERP transformation and enterprise modernization initiatives.
  • Expertise in CRM, Employee Workflow, Workforce Automation, Procurement, and EAM systems.
  • Experience in business architecture and cross-domain technology integration.
  • Strong background in IT governance, business capability modeling, and portfolio management.
  • Outstanding people leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead teams, manage change, and align stakeholders.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • TOGAF certification preferred; cloud architecture c
