Job Summary

As a Distinguished Engineer within the Infrastructure Products & Services organization this role will lead the engineering vision for operational excellence, focusing on full stack software architecture and infrastructure, and boosting engineering maturity and productivity across all our applications and platforms. This pivotal role demands a visionary with an extensive background in large-scale systems, expert knowledge in DevOps, and a zeal for designing, building and managing robust, scalable, and efficient on-prem and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Exemplify technical excellence, encouraging a culture of quality, continuous improvement, innovation and transparency

  • Lead the adoption of state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies, enhancing our capabilities in DevOps and infrastructure management

  • Champion innovation in developer productivity, leading the vision and inspiring our teams building our internal developer platform and experience

  • In partnership with the GMPO Product Engineering teams, CDIO, and GDC, define and refine Equinix’s full stack software development practices, ensuring architectural coherence and scalability that align with our strategic growth initiatives

  • In partnership with the Office of the CISO and the Global Infrastructure team, lead the identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks across software development, operational processes, and application infrastructure. Develop and implement comprehensive risk mitigation strategies, ensuring the timely correction of identified risks and the establishment of preventive measures to safeguard against future threats

  • Foster a culture of risk awareness and continuous improvement, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate risk management practices into the core of Equinix’s operations and development lifecycle

  • Collaborating with product teams to synchronize architectural frameworks with business goals and product directions.

  • Mentor and guide principal and senior principal engineers, promoting an atmosphere of learning and growth

  • Enhance Equinix’s technical standing through participation in industry forums, conferences, and publications

Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering 

  • Significant (5+ years) leadership exposure to architecture, infrastructure, and developer productivity

  • Demonstrated success in designing and executing large-scale platforms

  • Strong experience in full stack technologies

  • Master of devOps practices including automation, containerization, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure

  • Problem solving skills and solid understanding of software engineering principles

  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities

  • Ability and track record to inspire and lead high performing teams

The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

• San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $250,000 to $374,000 per year<
