The Staff Accountant will join our Finance team supporting a fully remote organization of 150+ employees across multiple states and conduct day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and timely and accurate completion of the month end close process. This role will also coordinate with external resources and third party vendors and may work cross-functionally with Staffing, People and Culture, IT, Sales, C-Suite from time to time.
The ideal candidate is adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines, is a proactive communicator and a team player: able to speak up and ask for assistance and/or jump in and lend a hand as needed, , and is comfortable interfacing requests and inquiries from employees in a timely fashion.
This is a fully remote opportunity with infrequent travel and reports to the Accounting Manager.

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for delivering successful outcomes in three key areas:
Truss’s financial processes are supported and enable improvement via marginal gains
- Accounts receivable and accounts payable processes are completed accurately and timely
- Month-end close is supported with accuracy and efficiency
Resolution of accounting inquiries are prioritized and responded to in a timely fashion
- Slack channels and Finance Helpdesk are monitored and accurate, timely responses to Trussels are provided
- Accounting inbox is monitored and accurate, timely responses to external partners and stakeholders are provided
Project involvement and system improvement
- Various accounting tools and worksheets are utilized to support ad-hoc projects
- Support and participate in projects to identify process improvement opportunities, execution and documentation
THE SKILL SET
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent) required1-2 years of relevant accounting experience
- Basic understanding of US GAAP accrual-based accounting
- Experience performing entry-level accounting tasks such as verifying data and performing data entry work from source documents into accounting software
- Experience participating in Accounts Payable processes including vendor management within the accounting system; processing vendor bills; coordinating employee expense reimbursement; and reconciling bank accounts and credit card accounts
- Experience participating in Accounts Receivable processes: preparing and processing customer invoices, receiving and monitoring customer payments
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
- Enjoys working in a dynamic, fast paced environment
- Proactive communicator
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Excel, Slack, Zoom, G Suite (Google Sheets & Google Docs)
- Ability to learn and adapt to various accounting software quickly
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience performing monthly close activities and ad hoc journal entries (ex. prepaid expenses, accrual expenses, payroll expenses, and depreciation expenses)
- Experience supporting audit and tax requests
- Experience with bill.com, Expensify, and Paylocity
