About the role

Role Overview:

The Senior Director of Software Development – Cybersecurity is a key technology leader responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable, and innovative software systems across the enterprise. This role plays a central part in advancing the company’s transition from a device-centric security model to a consumer-centric, protection-first strategy.

The organization’s R&D strategy is anchored around three initial core protection pillars:

Personal (Virtual) Security – Identity protection, persona privacy, and digital safety controls
Web Security – Secure and threat-aware browsing experiences across consumer contexts
Device Security – Enhanced protection for desktop and mobile operating environments

Each pillar is staffed by dedicated engineering teams responsible for delivering end-to-end security capabilities and maintaining an ongoing protection roadmap. These roadmaps evolve continuously to meet emerging threats and ensure that users always feel confidently protected.

The Web Security pillar is a strategic focus area and critical growth domain for this role. As AI-driven threats become increasingly dynamic and sophisticated, the Senior Director will guide teams in developing proactive, adaptive, and data-informed protection mechanisms that secure access to web experiences and digital interactions.

This is a Hybrid position located in Frisco, TX. You will be required to be onsite on an as-needed basis, typically 1 to 6 times a month. We are only considering candidates within a commutable distance to one of the two locations and are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

About the role:

Cybersecurity Innovation & Threat Response:

  • Actively evaluate emerging cybersecurity threats, particularly advanced AI-assisted attacks, phishing ecosystems, unsafe browsing patterns, exploit kits, and malicious scripting techniques.

  • Drive continuous enhancement of protection capabilities, ensuring solutions anticipate and respond to evolving attacker behaviors.

  • Establish strong integration between development teams and internal research / threat intelligence to maintain real-time protection relevancy.

Team & Culture Leadership:

  • Lead and grow geographically distributed engineering teams across multiple specialized protection domains.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement, encouraging teams to challenge assumptions and pursue bold solutions.

  • Ensure teams remain focused on delivering impactful protection outcomes, rather than primarily supporting operational tasks such as A/B testing or messaging.

Operational Excellence:

  • Define and track KPIs for system reliability, security posture, product impact, and roadmap execution.

  • Manage organizational capacity planning, talent development, and vendor or platform partnerships.

  • Support a flexible organizational structure that can expand to additional protection pillars as customer needs evolve.

About you:

  • 10+ years of software development leadership experience, including responsibility for security-focused or safety-critical systems.

  • Proven success managing multi-site or distributed engineering teams in an enterprise environment.

  • Strong understanding of web threat models, browser security, identity protection, and cloud-connected security architectures.
