SUMMARY:
Aligns the credit union’s technology infrastructure with the business strategy and goals. Plans and manages central information technology services, including core system administration, data center architecture and support, voice and data telecommunications, data governance, end user support and technical computing functions. As a member of the Executive Team, participates in business strategy discussions and decisions with emphasis on the application of technology to business problems and opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Works with Senior Management in developing plans to accomplish credit union strategies/objectives across the enterprise:
• Aligns the credit union’s technology infrastructure with business strategies and goals.
Recommends changes in business processes and plans to maximize the leverage of technology as a competitive advantage.
• Identifies long‐term corporate‐wide information technology needs and develops overall strategy for information systems development, hardware acquisition and integration including data center architecture and end user hardware and applications.
• Coordinates with business unit managers to identify the most efficient uses of
technology solutions and prepares the corporate technology plan, within the business planning process, to reflect these business needs over the planning period.
• Identifies, evaluates and presents new technologies that may be applicable to the business units. Establishes standards and policies for acquisition, deployment, maintenance, use and protection of information and systems in the company.
• In conjunction with the Chief Risk Officer and AVP Information Security monitors industry and regulatory changes and trends to ensure full regulatory compliance. Implements and manages systems and procedures to protect the credit union’s information assets from disclosure and loss.
• Dispenses advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures, consistent with established policies and Board approval.
• Reviews operating results of the IT division, compares them to established objectives, and takes action to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
• Coordinates implementation of new technology applications and services between the Information Technology Department and the operational departments of the credit union.
• Periodically reports to the SAFE Board of Directors on Information Technology and significant changes occurring in that area.
• Establishes operational procedures and standards for Information Technology areas in order to maintain a high level of response to member and employee problems or needs and to maintain the smooth and accurate processing of daily, monthly, quarterly and annual routines.
• Responsible for the organization of and participation in searches for core computer systems that support the processing and storage of data for member accounts.
• Responsible for establishing a system of internal control in all reporting departments to protect credit union assets. Maintains internal control procedures are followed consistently.
• Required to be on call if necessary to respond to problems in any area of IT.
• Develops and executes annual comprehensive technology financial plan designed to maximize technology value and continual enhancement of member experience.
• Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the Information Technology area including Business Systems & Application Development, the Network and Communication Departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Ability to successfully coordinate the implementation of new, upgraded or complementary hardware and software in concert with the demands placed on the area, with minimum down-time and inconvenience to staff and members. Adherence to deadlines, both technology and administrative, are critical attributes of this role.
