Job Description:

The Director of Digital Design will be responsible for designing best in class experiences for Discover customers across our digital properties, specifically, the websites and apps. This person will lead a team of digital product designers and strategists (comprised of both internal FTEs and external/agencies) who will work in cross functional agile product teams to deliver modern, innovative, usable and highly effective digital experiences that achieve desired business results. They will ensure customer centered design processes and adherence to enterprise brand standards while ensuring all deliverables and experiences are designed for accessibility, security and speed/performance requirements.

Creates a culture of effective risk management, accountability, and demonstration of risk awareness across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Leads team of designers, SMEs & strategists to create product experiences using data backed insights and user research Champion a User Centered Design, user experience, user research, usability, design thinking, and a Mobile first mindset across the enterprise Proactively determine iterative user experience enhancements and socialize with product teams for prioritization. Actively evangelize design best practices through industry trends and user research throughout the entire customer experience for all products. Creates governance, guidelines and standards framework for design language usage across all product workstreams.

• Creates, maintains, and continuously improves on enterprise digital design language for Mobile App and Web for entire customer lifecycle from Acquisitions to Collections.

• Manages external and internal agency relationships including new work, prioritization of existing work, creative feedback, and day-to-day agency management. Partners with Business Technology teams to create, maintain and continuously improve on enterprise repository for front end design components. Partners with business teams and initiative owners to understand vision, goals and success metrics for products and create best in class design and user experience.

Qualifications:

•  Education:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Arts or Graphic Design

• Work Experience:

  • Minimum: 12+ years of digital design and development, customer experience and/or customer research, or related; must have led teams in design delivery of large-scale public facing web sites and apps; extensive experience in creation of design languages/pattern libraries.

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $169,000.00 to $257,000.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
