Accounting Clerk II

Under general supervision this position is capable of performing a wide variety of routine duties in the Accounting Department.  Focus areas may include wire processing, accounts payable, or general ledger accounting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for the processing of all Domestic/International wires via appropriate channel.
• Places wire traces for problem situations and research wire issues.
• Identify problems and create solutions when feasible.
• Ensure all wire information is correct including that ABA numbers are valid.
• Ensure timely and accurate recordings of expenses, income, assets and liabilities as assigned.
• Enter and code Accounts Payable invoices.
• Obtain proper and appropriate approval for Accounts Payable invoices.
• Assist in the Month End close procedures as assigned.
• Knows the Fixed Asset/Prepaid system processes and performs responsibilities as assigned.
• Performs various aspects of Credit Union Subsidiary Organization (CUSO) functions as assigned.
• Processes various Journal Entries as assigned.
• Submit and reconcile various assigned general ledger accounts.
• Recognizes and resolves discrepancies in general ledger accounts.
• Provides exceptional service to all Members, volunteers, internal employees and service providers.
• Performs stop payments.
• Assists in developing schedules relating to the Budgeting/Planning process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficient knowledge of general accounting practices and principles.
• Proficient knowledge in MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.

Physical Requirements:·   Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn.·   Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.·   Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.·    Work environment is indoors, majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
Education/Experience:A combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business or closely related field and 2 plus years’ accounting experience.
Compensation: Base starting range: $23.00 to $31.00 per hour commensurate with experience. Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
