Intern, Software Automation, Summer 2026
Location: Newark, CA
As an intern, you must possess a strong understanding of Computer Science and Data Science fundamentals. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude, and approaches work with vigor and determination.
Please note this is a pipeline req, by applying to this role, you are interested in at least one of the following teams:
· Software Automation
· Android Applications Software Engineer
· Infotainment Validation
Role/Responsibilities:
· Own one or more technical projects related to controls software engineering from idea to completion
· Apply concepts from coursework to drive creative solutions to complex problems
· Contribute to updating and modifying current automation scripts
· Develop test automation frameworks
· Understanding how to modify and develop new testing scripts
· Solid understanding of operating system
· Work with Android Studio to write Java and Kotlin code and compile and unit test codes
· Work with QA team to test binary in car and test bench before merging code into official release build.
· Validate features such as Media Apps, Navigation, Projected experience (CarPlay and Android Auto)
· Ability to work in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications:
· Proficient using programming languages such as Python, Java, Kotlin
· Exposure to working with Android Studio or related tools
· Exposure with Jetpack Compose
· Familiarity making changes in test automation framework
· Experience performing manual tests
· Ability to apply book knowledge to real-world scenarios
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Education:
· Field(s) of study: Automotive Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science or related fields
· Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program at an accredited university
· Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS, PhD)
Program Information:
- Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
- Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
- Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
- Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $50 to $70 (subject to changes).
- Relocation: May be provided on a case-to-case basis.
- Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
- Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
- Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
- Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
- Visa Sponsorship: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization.
