What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Develop and own side structure/door strategies applicable to side impact crashworthiness
- Develop and drive risk mitigation strategies utilizing DFEMA principles for Side Impact load cases.
- Document lessons learned and drive continuous improvement for side impact modes
- Develop best-in-class practices for new side impact modes and emerging requirements.
- Benchmark competitive vehicles for performance, design, and content from a Side Impact POV
- Develop design strategies to deliver consumer testing (USNCAP, IIHS) vehicle targets
- Own Side impact performance to targets for structure and occupant.
- Contribute to and collaborate on overall vehicle compliance plan
- Drive closure to all side impact open items
- Cascade side/door component targets to cross functional engineering team
- Drive alignment among cross functional engineering team
- Monitor/track development progress against aligned targets
- Support side impact/door development and full-vehicle testing
- Track CAE prediction vs. Test for continuous improvement opportunities
- Interpret CAE simulation and test data to provide target status assessment and drive countermeasure development
- Develop and own robustness analysis strategy utilizing CAE simulation resources
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
- The responsibilities of this role require three days a week attendance at in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Education/Certifications: A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
- Years of Experience required in type of role: 5-10+ years of experience in developing and integrating Vehicle safety systems, experience in body structures, High Voltage and mechanical areas and relevant automotive assignments.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Prior experience working with: Legal, IIHS, US-NCAP Testing protocols and requirements
