What You’ll Do
- Triage patients and obtain thorough histories, vital signs, and patient assessments.
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care from intake through discharge.
- Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
- Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection.
- Obtain diagnostic radiographs and perform in-house laboratory testing.
- Support surgical and dental procedures, including patient preparation, monitoring, recovery, and instrument care.
- Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs while maintaining accurate procedural records.
- Use Fear Free and low-stress handling techniques to support patient safety and comfort.
- Educate clients about patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and thoroughly document patient care and communication.
- Keep treatment areas clean, stocked, organized, and compliant with infection-control protocols.
- Collaborate with teammates to maintain an efficient, positive hospital workflow.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional-development opportunities.
What You’ll Bring
- Previous veterinary assistant or veterinary technician experience.
- Safe and effective patient-handling and restraint skills.
- Knowledge of preventive care and vaccine protocols.
- Experience with surgical assistance and anesthesia monitoring.
- Diagnostic skills including radiology, phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures.
- Solid technical abilities, including venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
- The ability to triage patients and obtain complete medical histories.
- Clear, compassionate communication with clients and teammates.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate medical documentation.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
