A DAY IN THE LIFE:

A Regional Sales Manager at Tandem develops sales goals and objectives for each territory on a fiscal, quarterly, and monthly basis.  This individual is responsible for the selection and retention of regional field personnel (Territory Managers (TM) and Clinical Diabetes Sales Specialists (CDSS).   Regional Sales Managers direct the TM and CDSS to achieve and/or exceed assigned sales goals and objectives and provide input to the Area Sales Director regarding sales strategies and plans.

This is a field-based position which the candidate must actually reside in the Upstate New York area with responsibility for the teams covering the metro areas of Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany and the Hudson Valley.

A Regional Sales Manager at Tandem also:

  • Ensures all field personnel are meeting or exceeding all objectives set including both revenue based and market development objectives.
  • Works with Area Director to establish sales objectives by creating a sales plan and quota for Territories in assigned Region in support of corporate sales objectives.
  • Achieves Regional financial objectives by analyzing Regional revenue in relation to direct selling expenses. Prepares and completes action plans to address trends, resolve problems, improve Regional sales systems and processes, and affect change.
  • Partners with the Regional Clinical Manager (RCM) for the assigned region to assure timely and accurate clinical training outcomes for customers and accounts.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to foster communication and understanding with field and clinical sales.
  • Effectively promotes Tandem’s unique market position, differentiation from competitors.
  • Builds and maintains rapport with key customers and KOL’s; expands customer base through market development including presentation of education programs.
  • Provides coaching and feedback to Territory Managers and Clinical Diabetes Specialists through Field Coaching Reports during regular field visits. Provide feedback after sales calls, presentations, etc., in order to improve technical and selling skills.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing of Clinical Diabetes Specialists within each Territory to facilitate the sales process based on established guidelines. 
  • Maintains sales data and records on each territory in order to understand market trends and provide direction to employees; communicates competitive data to staff.
  • Monitors the sales process and intervenes as necessary to address issues and accelerates the sales process.
  • Interprets and explains business/marketing policies and programs to Regional staff in order to maintain consistency and responsiveness to customer needs, ensuring that market and Territory strategies are fully executed.
  • Provides input to the Area Sales Director on sales strategies, new product indications, and product acceptance.
  • Ensures department staff is properly trained, per designated training plan, before assuming job responsibilities. Also, ensure all regional members participate in on-going training.
  • Participates in the selection, development, performance appraisal, merit recommendation, and promotion of department staff.
  • Develops and manages schedules and performance requirements of staff.
  • Supports the short-term planning for the department including headcount, budgeting, training, and systems requirements.
  • Monitor and approves territory expense and mileage usage reports. Ensures region expenses stay within specified quarterly and annual budgets.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
