Utility Maintenance-
Los Angeles, CA
Pay Rate: $21.00 hourly
The Intermodal terminal operates 24 hours per day 365 days of the year.
- Must be able to work any of the following shifts:
- 7AM to 3PM or 3PM to 11PM
SUMMARY
- Inspecting the crane and lifting equipment for damage or wear and tear.
- Checking fluid levels and lubrication points.
- Ensuring all safety devices are functional.
- Escort the fuel truck drivers on and off the BNSF property; while working in conjunction with the truck drivers to make sure they reach their destination safely and can provide fuel for the equipment as needed.
- In this position you will need to operate a company truck and use a two-way radio to convey information to truck drivers, Parsec Ramp Supervisors, and other personnel as needed for safe passage.
- Operate the forklift as needed.

Worksite Preparation:
- Clearing the work area of obstacles and debris.
- Placing mats or planks to protect the ground surface.
- Identifying and marking lifting points on loads.
- Putting away stock orders/ parts
Maintenance and cleaning:
- Performing basic maintenance tasks like greasing components and cleaning crane parts.
- Inspecting cables and chains for wear and damage.
- Reporting any maintenance issues to the crane operator or supervisor.
- Handling fluid spills
- Pressure washing vehicles, cleaning pick-up trucks (removing parts/materials)
- Cleaning around the mechanic shops and areas around the tracks
- Graffiti removal
Safety compliance:
- Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures regarding crane operation.
- Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identifying and reporting potential hazards.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Physical ability: Ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Communication skills: Clear verbal communication with the crane operator and other crew members.
- Basic mechanical knowledge: Understanding of crane components and rigging techniques.
- Safety awareness: Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Attention to detail: Ability to identify potential hazards and perform thorough inspections.
