Access Services Intern  

Job Code/Title:  0059/Library Intern

Department:  RL – Research Services, Access Services

 

Supervisor:  Library Section Head, Access Services

 

 

 

 

 

Position Summary

This position will provide support for access services, including stacks/circulation, reproduction services and reference services in the Research Services department.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively on projects related to research services, material management and circulation, and digitization.
  • Assists researchers in person and remotely; provides onsite reference services at the Rubenstein Library research services desk,
  • Supports administrative functions including, but not limited to, staff scheduling for the research services desk; updating policies and workflows; and preparing special collections material for digital upload.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Learning Objectives

  • Demonstrate experience with public service functions in a special collections library, serving researchers remotely and in-person.
  • Develop an understanding of and support the material management of a high use, high volume special collections with on-site and off-site storage.

Education:

Required: Current enrollment in an accredited graduate archival studies, public history, or information and library science program; or enrollment in a related graduate program combined with archival experience or training

 

Experience:

Required:  Strong analytical, organizational, and writing skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; interest in public services; capacity to take initiative and thrive in a rapidly changing environment; accurate and detail-oriented; ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team; demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer services.
