Job Summary: 

The role will be actively involved in managing all aspects of the Project Client contract, troubleshooting project issues, reviewing draft documents, managing all project related correspondence and resolving claims on behalf of the Company. This position will report to the General Counsel. The Project Contract Attorney will work closely with the on-site project team, risk management, and outside counsel to facilitate smooth project execution and resolve any contractual issues that arise. This is a project-based position and may include visiting one or more of the corporate regional offices regularly.  The position may require extended hours or travel depending on project needs and deadlines. This position will be fully in-office.

Essential Responsibilities:

Contract Management 

  • Manage the lifecycle of the client contract from inception through completion, including monitoring performance, compliance, modifications, and extensions.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, monitor contract performance, and assist with the management of any contract disputes. 
  • Prepare detailed abstracts summarizing key notice and other provisions in the client contract.
  • Track and update client contracts to support project management contract administration.

Risk Management

  • Help avoid, respond to, negotiate, and resolve disputes.
  • Identify relevant industry regulations, precedents, and best practices as they pertain to company legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
  • Ensure documents, contracts, and agreements are accurate, enforceable, and protect the company’s interests. 
  • Perform data analysis to proactively support claims identification and management to mitigate potential legal risk. 
  • Support e-discovery and other litigation-related discovery activities.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with project managers, legal advisors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and resolve issues.
  • Provide guidance and training to project team members on contract-related matters.
  • Facilitate clear communication regarding contract terms, changes, and project requirements.
  • Resolve disputes and issues related to contract performance and obligations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all contract documents and correspondence.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on contract status, performance metrics, and risk assessments.
  • Document and track contract changes, claims, and negotiations
Qualifications:

Professional Experience and Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to a state bar and in good standing to obtain in-house admission/certification.
  • Ability to obtain admission to the Idaho state bar
  • At least three (3+) years of working experience in construction law or a related field at a law firm preferred.
