How you will make an impact:

The primary responsibility of the Materials Scientist is to lead and enable materials science as a strategic champion and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Company’s existing and developing product portfolio. The Materials Scientist will lead material science and technology development projects for novel products in close collaboration with external and internal stakeholders. The Materials Scientist will support team-selling efforts as resident material science SME, promote and present material science competency to customers and industry forums, and provide materials-based and technology risk assessments, and guidance for internal stakeholders and to support company initiatives and product development programs.

  • Perform chemical compatibility assessments and data analysis.
  • Learn material characterization equipment (for example DSC, TGA, etc.).
  • Assist in the development of material specifications and rationales for raw material (RM) and process changes.
  • Assist inter-departmental projects regarding, material equivalency and comparability, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects.
  • Maintain an organized computerized database of products and RM.

This is an on-site role based out of our headquarters in Camarillo, CA.

The skills and experience you’ll need:

  • Minimum 4-year degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • 2-years’ experience in either pharmaceutical process development, material science and technology (MSAT) to the pharmaceutical industry, or supplier quality as a technically proficient professional using filtration, single-use or CGT products preferred.
  • Must have a mastery of scientific and engineering principles and think critically.
  • Must be able to work with other departments internally and develop positive, supportive relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Must have driven personality, be self-confident, and enthusiastic with a strong desire to excel individually and as a team.
