About the role
Nexans is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for our manufacturing plant in Charleston, SC .
Nexans High Voltage US is the leading manufacturer of high voltage subsea power cables used to bring power from offshore windfarms to land! Our brand new, state of the art manufacturing facility in Charleston, South Carolina is the first subsea cable manufacturer in the United States!
The Maintenance Technician position if an important part of the team!
This position is responsible for:
- Carrying out maintenance activities
- Proactive follow-up of maintenance work to help the factory reach its goals
- Participate in risk analyzes and JSA before and during the maintenance work
- Follow-up use of LOTO / entry permit
- Ability to follow instructions and advice from senior mechanics
- Contribute to the preparation of EPLs (One page lectures) and procedures for performing standard maintenance missions
- Assist the department with technical procedures for procurement
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Education within mechanical subjects
- Minimum of one year of experience in mechanical maintenance work within manufacturing is preferred
- Good collaborative skills, systematic and targeted with the ability to find creative solutions within the area of responsibility
- Good security understanding
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, use hoist or assistance for weight above 50lbs
- Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs, ladders, bend, squat, crawl, kneel and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions such as hot, cold, rain and humidity
- Must be able to work on aerial lift platforms up to 80 feet on a limited basis, 30 feet on average
