About the role

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, and home to Baystate Medical Center (BMC), and the region's only level 1 trauma center, providing services throughout western Massachusetts is looking for Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Infectious Diseases

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PGY-1 or equivalent to two years in a direct patient care role
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist - Board of Pharmacy Specialist
  • Doctorate in Pharmacy

SCHEDULE:

  • Fulltime 40 hours per week Monday-Friday
  • Rotating weekend and holidays

  • Onsite Springfield MA,

Summary: 

Through the leadership of the BH Clinical Pharmacy Manager, the Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is primarily responsible for leading and providing comprehensive and collaborative pharmaceutical care and supporting the pharmacy education programs. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is also expected to serve as a leader among their colleagues, supporting workflow and education as appropriate.

The major job responsibilities include identification, resolution, and prevention of drug-related problems, drug distribution support, order verification, and oversight of medication use protocols and/or restrictions.  Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Specialist serves as a key member of the multidisciplinary infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship teams, optimizing antimicrobial therapy, improving patient outcomes, reducing antimicrobial resistance, and supporting institutional quality and safety initiatives. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist supports and leads clinical pharmacy and medication management initiatives, serves as the pharmacy representative on committees as appropriate, participates in research, and contributes to the advancement of knowledge through the teaching and education of pharmacy students, pharmacy residents, and pharmacy staff, as well as nursing staff and medical staff both internally and externally.
