Summary

Candidate will be part of the Database Services team whose mission is to provide corporate database support for Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. The candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, preferably in an IT or Engineering related curriculum such as Computer Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineering or Computer Science. The candidate should be taking coursework to develop the skills relevant for this position.

What You'll Do

Assist the SQL database administrators in the following:

  • Maintain database inventory information.
  • Review reports and remediate issues (backup failures, SQL report delivery failures, low disk space, etc.)
  • Complete customer requests for SQL support (database refreshes, new databases/SQL servers, security changes, database archival, database backup/ restore, etc.)
  • Coordinate SQL patching work with 3rd party vendor. 
  • Complete assigned project work (upgrade databases, build new reports/ scripts, implement DB standards, etc.)

What It Takes To Succeed

Preferred knowledge and skills: 

  • Familiarity with Windows 10/11 desktop Operating Systems
  • Familiarity with Windows Server 2016/ 2019/ 2022
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Familiarity with Powershell
  • Reporting and data analysis may be required on an as needed basis.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and shift focus based on changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn processes and technology concepts.

 

Pay Structure/Hours:

  • This is a paid opportunity for a student working a minimum of 15 hours per week. However, work hours and schedules may fluctuate based on departmental needs.
  • Applicant must be enrolled and attending a minimum of six (6) college credits per semester (100 or higher-level courses).
  • Pay rate is $18.75 per hour for an undergraduate intern and $20.80 per hour for a graduate intern.

Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook

Education

College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week.
