About the role:
The Center for Biological Innovation (CBI) is a BSC Center of Excellence that utilizes in vitro and ex vivo approaches, such as biochemical, cell-based, microbial, and tissue-based assays to support the design, development and commercialization of BSC products.  The successful Senior Scientist candidate should have the appropriate technical expertise to lead, conduct and analyze in vitro biomedical research studies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, design, and develop in vitro models to evaluate materials and device concepts in multiple therapeutic areas with a high degree of independence
  • Assume responsibility for interpreting data, organizing, executing, and leading project activities
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and propose solutions as needed
  • Prepare technical reports to communicate results to technical community
  • Provide support and guidance to team members
  • Influence technical decisions made by management and project leadership within scope of function
  • Interface cross-functionally, with preclinical, engineering, and regulatory functions and drive collaborations between the department and divisional partners

 
Required Qualifications:

  • MS Degree in Biomedical Engineering or Biological Sciences
  • 5+ years professional experience in medical device, pharmaceutical industry or academic setting
  • Experience in cardiovascular, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal, urological and/or oncology therapeutic area(s) 
  • Experience in cell-based assays and analysis
  • Proven technical ability in leading projects with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Able to work in collaborative and independent work environments with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable working in BSL2 laboratory with potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials

Preferred qualifications:

  • Industry experience, preferably in medical device
  • PhD in biomedical engineering or Biological Sciences
  • Experience in tissue engineering and 3-dimensional in vitro biological models 
  • Experience with hemocompatibility testing of medical devices
  • Experience developing and optimizing in vitro assays

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
