Director of Business Operations for AMP Urology & Cancer Services

The Director of Business Operations for AMP Urology & Cancer Services is responsible for leading the operational, financial, and strategic functions that support a high-performing, multi-site specialty group. This role ensures smooth daily operations, drives performance improvement, and supports growth initiatives across urology, oncology, radiation oncology, and related ancillary services. The Director collaborates closely with physicians, APPs, clinical leadership, and AMP executive leadership to deliver a patient-centered experience that is efficient, compliant, and aligned with AMP’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Oversee daily operations across AMP’s urology and cancer service sites, ensuring smooth clinic flow, efficient patient access, and consistent operational standards.
• Monitor and optimize provider schedules, block templates, and daily throughput to support productivity and patient satisfaction.
• Ensure operational readiness across clinical and ancillary services including imaging, infusion, radiation oncology, surgery coordination, and procedure areas.
• Implement and maintain site-specific workflows and standard operating procedures aligned with AMP policies and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with practice managers and clinical leaders to resolve operational barriers and escalate concerns timely.

Financial & Business Management

• Develop and manage annual budgets for urology and cancer service lines, including monitoring expenses, forecasting volumes, and analyzing variances.
• Track and report key financial indicators such as RVUs, clinic productivity, payer mix, denial trends, and cost-per-encounter.
• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle to optimize authorizations, coding accuracy, documentation completeness, and timely charge capture.
• Identify opportunities to expand revenue streams, strengthen profitability, and support growth of ancillary services (lab, imaging, ASC, radiation, etc.).

Strategic Planning & Growth

• Support AMP leadership and physician partners in advancing strategic initiatives including service line expansion, provider recruitment, and new clinical programs.
• Conduct business analyses on emerging opportunities such as new sites, equipment investments, outreach programs, advanced procedures, and population health initiatives.
• Lead or contribute to integration efforts related to new physician practices or ancillary service implementations.

Quality, Compliance & Process Improvement

• Ensure operational compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and urology/oncology-specific guidelines (e.g., AUA, ACRO, radiation safety).
• Use Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools to streamline workflows, reduce delays, and enhance patient experience.
• Track operational and quality KPIs, including wait times, patient satisfaction, throughput metrics, and safety indicators; implement action plans for improvement.
• Partner with clinical leadership to support quality initiatives such as survivorship programs, symptom management, care pathways, and treatment timeliness.

Team & Leadership Management

• Provide direct leadership to practice managers, supervisors, front-office teams, and administrative staff across assigned locations.
• Build a high-performing team culture grounded in accountability, professional communication, and patient-centered care.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management for administrative staff.
• Collaborate with HR and physician leadership on workforce planning, staffing models, and employee engagement.

Physician & Multidisciplinary Collaboration

• Serve as the operational point of contact and trusted partner for urologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and APPs.
• Support physician onboarding, schedule integration, productivity management, and operational concerns.
• Facilitate communication between physicians, operations, nursing, revenue cycle, IT, and executive leadership to ensure alignment across all service lines.
• Support multidisciplinary coordination among urology, oncology, imaging, surgery centers, infusion, and radiation teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
• 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in medical group operations or hospital service line management, with preference for urology or oncology experience.
• Strong understanding of specialty practice operations, including clinic flow, radiation oncology workflows, infusion operatio
