Position Summary:
Global Atlantic is seeking a candidate to lead a centralized function within investment accounting responsible for all aspects of the accounting operations and investment reconciliation between Clearwater and the general ledger ensuring the accuracy, integrity and adequate substantiation of the investment balances, investment analytics and delivery of investment data. This individual will manage a team of investment accounting professionals at various levels, supporting the GAAP and STAT Investment Controllership areas within Investment Accounting and would be required to bridge the operations and the accounting for investment activity to support the accounting and reporting. This position will also support cross functional initiatives related to process enhancements and redesign related to achieving concurrent and consistent delivery of investment results across multiple basis. All candidates must, in addition to possessing the specific qualifications cited below, work well within a complex, fast-paced, fluid environment, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead teams responsible for:
- all aspects of the investment reconciliation between Clearwater and the general ledger; preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, account certifications and flux analysis across multiple basis
- daily monitoring and clearing of suspense activity, suspense substantiation and related controls
- month end closing procedures including analytical reviews of investment balances, unsettled trades, suspense accounts to support the accuracy of our financial statements
- coordination of the accounting consolidations and intercompany eliminations of SPV structures.
- Management and design of SOX controls and enhanced processes to support the completeness and accuracy of investment accounting reconciliations.
- Lead the accounting operations for new investments in partnership with the GAAP and STAT Investment Controllership teams and accounting policy
- Identify and direct process improvements within Investment Accounting that support cross functional initiatives for concurrent and consistent delivery of investment accounting results
- Proactively manage developments in accounting for investments in collaboration with the GAAP and STAT Investment Controllership teams and accounting policy
- Perform control functions in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 and NAIC Model Audit Rule.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidate Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA.
- 15+ years of relevant experience.
- Expert knowledge in insurance company Investment GAAP and Statutory accounting and reporting with a foundational understanding of the upstream processes and impacts to downstream accounting and reporting for fixed income; including complex structured securities and loans and intercompany relationships from internal securitizations.
- Expert knowledge in insurance company Investment US GAAP and Statutory reporting with the ability to translate the guidance to operational execution.
- Knowledge of SOX controls and public company experience
- Proven ability to successfully manage close processes across multiple teams with timely and accurate delivery of financial results
- Strong analytical skills, ability to analyze financial results.
- Very strong ability to effectively communicate complex accounting to different stakeholders in the organization
