Preventative Maintenance Lead Technician 8 hr

SUMMARY: 

This position is accountable for the leadership of technicians in preventative maintenance, lubrication, and proactive operation of the thermoforming and extrusion machines at Darnel in Monroe.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Champions the safety of all employees through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations. 

· Leadership- must lead within the position-make clear methodical decisions while leading the PM team. Follow up on any items that need to be recovered. Document all preventative activities and report to the maintenance manager.

· PM Compliance- attain 100% compliance daily/weekly when applicable

· Supports and is active in planning of the TF and EXT machines as a technician when needed. This includes gathering information of the machine (nameplate data, part numbers, etc.), getting parts ordered, heavy in practical installation until completion and communicates this back to the Maintenance Manager.

· Provide technical mechanical/electrical assistance before, during, and after a PM in TF or EXT.

· Involved actively in risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health, and safety risks related to the production equipment.

· Compliance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

· Performs daily preventative maintenance of plant facility equipment per PM schedule set by OEM, contractor, or vendor and/or Maintenance Manager.

· Daily consistent communication with Maintenance Manager to resolve opportunities before, during, and after a PM is a must. 

· Request required parts and equipment for production equipment from the Parts Coordinator.

Performs other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager. 

Requirements

Education and Equivalent Experience:

· High School diploma or GED is required. Individuals with 2 – 4 year technical degree highly desirable.

· In additions to the educational requirements, previous manufacturing/facility experience a must Plastic/Foam Extrusion and Thermoforming experience a plus.

· Seven to ten (7-10) years of Industrial Maintenance experience or equivalent on the job training.

· Advanced electrical/pneumatic/mechanical skill set is a minimum requirement. An understanding of Irwin Thermoformers and Davis Standard Extruders a plus.

· Advanced understanding of mechanical componentry and operation on manufacturing machines is a must.

· Must be able to speak, write, and read effectively, bilingual a plus (Spanish)

· Great comprehension skills at an advanced business level.

· Must possess solid verbal and written communication skills

· Must have solid computer literation and electronic technology capabilities.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

· To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

· The employee must be able to occasionally climb platforms or ladders to train/assist employees with job duties, lift up to 35 pounds, and be able to work up to and including 12 hour shifts.

· Must be able to work safely in the vicinity of open flames, hot foam, oil and metal (at approximately 350-450 degrees). There is possible exposure to dust and odors from various substances such as oil, molten plastic/foam, degreasers and cleaning solvents.

· Ability to utilize a variety of computer software (Microsoft products preferred, Oracle/Peoplesoft, Sharepoint, etc.).

· Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and to handle multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously.

· Ability to communicate safety, goals and Company expectations with appropriate levels of the organization; create clear, timely audience appropriate messages (both written and verbal). Drive department goals and consistently adhere to the advancement of the Maintenance Department.
