Position Overview:

Blue Orange Digital is looking for a Vice President of Engineering to manage our growing engineering team and work to deliver high-value, world-class solutions to our clients in the Data Engineering, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Analytics space.

Responsibilities:

People Leadership & Management:

• Build a world-class engineering team through recruiting, development, and retention efforts.
• Develop and maintain career development pathways, in collaboration with HR, for the different roles on your team.
• Develop and promote the next generation of engineering management within the team.
• Develop and iterate on systems and processes to scale performance.
• Manage the engineering team budget, including staffing.
• Develop and engage the engineering team in a primarily remote environment.

Technical Leadership:

• Help design and develop solutions for clients, specifically in data engineering, Data Platform Development, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics.
  
• Develop and enforce the delivery standards for technical solutions across the engineering team.
  
• Provide technical guidance on client solutions, architecture, performance and scalability, security, etc.
• Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies to bring to our clients.
  
• Instill engineering best practices in the team.

Client Delivery:

• Work with the President and senior leadership to develop and execute an engineering roadmap based on Blue Orange and client priorities.
• Partner with PMO on team resourcing and scoping client projects and solutions.
• Partner with PMO & Sales peers to create and deliver on client roadmaps.
• Hold the engineering team accountable for their performance on projects.
• Build strong client relationships.
• Partner with PMO & Sales on keeping clients happy and pursuing further opportunities in accounts.
  

Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience working with data technologies in a combination of hands-on and leadership roles.
  
• Experience as a Director/VP leading a 70+ member international engineering organization, preferably in a remote environment.
• Expert-level experience with Python, SQL, and other common programming languages.
  
• Experience designing and developing cloud architectures.
• Experience across all three major cloud providers is a huge plus.
• You embrace the DevOps mindset.
• Experience working with Cloud Data Warehouses & Platforms, including Snowflake & Databricks.
• Experience overseeing teams using both agile and hybrid methodologies.
