Work Control Planner, Electrical & Instrumentation

About the role

Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking an experienced maintenance professional to join our operations and facilities organization. This role provides planning expertise supporting SRNL Operations in developing work plans to address technical issues due to equipment failure, equipment upgrade, or new component installation that could have division and/or site wide implications. Specific support provided will differ according to assignment, but will generally include planning and development of task level work activities.

Planning tasks include but not limited to:

  • Develop and/or review of large and complex electrical, instrumentation, and HVAC work packages including written step-by-step work instructions, procedures, safety and testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance or modification work activities within a given area.
  • This would include the review, understanding and interpretation of various engineering, design, technical and vendor prints, drawings, schematics, documents, diagrams and specifications to ensure design information sufficient to develop modifications for electrical mechanical systems
  • Development may also include a physical walkdown of the area or system to identify potential hazardous conditions or configuration anomalies.
  • Prepare detailed material takeoffs specifications for Bill of Materials and work activity labor estimates
  • Perform various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control work package development. This may include, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and training along with other areas specific to the department or division in which the position exists.
  • Discuss and interface on problems and concerns with associated work control work package activity with internal Subject Matter Experts and external site organizations and/or support groups.
  • Does not manage employees, but may mentor and/or train subordinates.
  • Works safely with particular attention to quality. 
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS (or Equiv) + 4 years as a Work Control Planner or in an equivalent role
  • For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong Instrumentation experience in a nuclear facility is preferred
  • Instrumentation calibration experience is preferred
  • Electrical outage experience
