Backend Senior Software Engineer- Music Discovery

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to join the SoundCloud Music Intelligence and Discovery team. Our  mission is to help users to find and play what they’re looking for and enable them to explore further to discover music that exists nowhere else and connect directly with the artists that make it. In the role of Applied Scientist you will be working in the multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists focused on exploring, designing, building and deploying state of the art Machine Learning algorithms with a focus on delivering high accuracy music recommendation at scale. 

As a Senior Engineer in the team you will be responsible for the software engineering and machine learning infrastructure necessary to leverage the data and other resources in order to build and deliver search and recommendation mechanisms. You will be working in the multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists focused on exploring, designing, building and deploying state of the art Machine Learning algorithms with a focus on delivering high accuracy music recommendation at scale.  You will also be responsible for the high availability and consistent quality of your services through the design and development of automated testing and monitoring. We care much more about your general engineering skills and positive attitude towards getting things done than any prior knowledge of a particular language or framework.

Basic qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience writing code in a typed language (e.g. Go/C++/C/Java)
• Proficiency in programming, software design and code reviews.
• Very good understanding of software development processes and tools (e.g. CI/CD, git)
• Practical experience of deploying ML solutions to production (on a public cloud) 
• Track record of successful projects in algorithm design and product development.
• Solid communication skills

Bonus Points if you have:

• Experience working in AI/ML and up-to-date with recent advances in the field
• Knowledge of basic machine learning concepts and frameworks
• A love for music
