This Opportunity

Provides technical support and guidance on due diligence, and environmental compliance projects. Primary responsibilities include evaluating regulatory requirements, assessing operational compliance, conducting Phase I and Phase II environmental due diligence, and identifying potential environmental liabilities.  May also support  site assessment and remediation activities including conducting geophysical surveys, collecting environmental samples from various media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air/vapor), and conducting site exploration and geologic logging using a variety of drilling techniques. The candidate assists on projects relating to hazardous and solid waste management, air emission sources, water and wastewater compliance, and pollution control.  Prepares accurate and concise reports and documentation describing field  activities and assessing and advising on the short- and long-term risks to ecological and human health.  Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to a level of quality that meets acceptable industry standards.

Your Impact

  • Assist in the preparation of SPCC Plans, FRPs, ERAPs, SWPPPs, and other related regulatory related plans and documents, Phase I environmental site assessments, and EHS audits, including performing site inspections.
  • Perform professional environmental work and conduct investigations and inspections of air emission sources, hazardous or solid waste facilities, water/wastewater treatment facilities, industrial and agricultural facilities, pollution sources and proposed and existing site conditions, water resources, and aboveground/underground storage tanks to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
  • Research environmental hazmat databases regarding historical property land uses.
  • Collect, extract, identify, and compile environmental data from soil sampling, soil gas sampling, groundwater sampling, stormwater sampling, boring logs, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.   
  • Assist with site investigation coordination, subsurface boring and trenching oversight, and monitoring of groundwater and extraction well installations.
  • Prepare data and visualizations such as mineral charts, soil analyses, groundwater modeling, maps geologic cross-sections, and other illustrations.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized projects.
  • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to the maintenance of sample collection, trench and boring, laboratory documentation, written procedures, monitoring systems, and logbooks.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings to prevent, control, restore, or clean-up chemical and environmental problems and contamination.
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment and tools, troubleshooting and reporting on malfunctions, and performing inventory control activities.
  • Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of geologic, hydrogeologic, and chemical data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for low to mid-level threat mitigation activities.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline. 
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working as a Geologist and compliance-focused environmental engineering.
  • Knowledge of geolog
