Certified Surgical Assist Podiatry

The Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) assists providers and staff by collecting pertinent patient information needed to determine physical and psychological needs. This includes addressing and identifying health problems, performing selected treatments, aiding in diagnostic testing and/or procedures, assisting with non-invasive and invasive surgical procedures, and routine clinical duties. The CSA functions as a member of the healthcare team with responsibilities commensurate with training, scope of practice, and demonstrated competencies. Direct patient care is provided to patients of varying ages.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
- Associates or Vocational degree from an accredited Surgical Technician program
- Certificate of completion of a Surgical Assist program
- Hold CSA (Certified Surgical Assistant) from NSAA (National Surgical Assistant Association) or NCCSA (National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants)
- Current Kentucky CSA license (KCSA) from Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure (KBML)
- Added to the Job Description on 7/1/25 – current employees have 30 days to obtain
- Basic Life Support certification
- Minimum two years of direct patient care experience preferred
