Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Lab Assistant I will provide general administrative and laboratory support basic research activities. 

Duties of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Order and maintain laboratory supplies.
  • Assist with lab organization 
  • Prepare basic reagents
  • Perform retinal histology and microscopy experiments
  • Trace Neurons
  • Assist with electrode array experiments
  • Assist with preparing all research related protocols
  • Assist with routine correspondence
  • Maintain and organize research datasets
  • Perform basic literature searches

Salary Range: $25.75 - $30.17 Hourly

Required:

  • Ability to write concisely and clearly, edit, and proofread to ensure grammatically correct and factual correspondence
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to utilize an IBM PC and Mac
  • Ability to take initiative and work on a self-directed basis with limited supervision
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively 
  • Ability to prioritize activities with conflicting deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Skill in scientific writing, literature review
  • Skills in data and database management
  • Previous experience working in a research laboratory
