JOB TITLE: Senior Construction Estimator- Corporate


OBJECTIVE:  We are seeking an accomplished Senior Estimator – Construction and Takeoffs to lead and manage estimating efforts for residential multifamily housing projects and commercial construction developments. In this critical supervisory role, you will specialize in delivering precise material and labor takeoffs, interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, cultivating vendor relationships, and mentoring a team of estimators to achieve operational excellence. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Estimating & Takeoffs (40%)

  • Prepare detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Analyze blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications to generate precise cost estimates for residential multifamily housing and commercial projects.
  • Develop itemized material lists, ensuring all calculations align with project requirements and timelines.
  • Conduct regular audits of estimates to ensure consistency and accuracy.

 Vendor Relations & Cost Management (25%)

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Obtain competitive pricing, evaluate vendor bids, and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to identify value-engineering opportunities to optimize costs and improve project efficiency.
  • Provide detailed cost analysis reports and assist in project budgeting and forecasting.

 Leadership & Team Development (20%)

  • Lead, mentor, and train a team of estimators and takeoff specialists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement training programs for new hires and ongoing staff development.
  • Delegate tasks, monitor performance, and provide actionable feedback to ensure team success.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to share updates, discuss challenges, and promote collaboration.

 Project Planning & Strategic Oversight (15%)

  • Participate in pre-construction planning, including client meetings and feasibility studies.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of historical project costs to enhance future estimating accuracy.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, advancements in technology, and changes in regulations affecting construction processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and improve communication across departments.

 


Requirements


 

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Business, Accounting, or a related field, or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of proven experience in construction estimating, takeoffs, materials and loose lists, with a focus on residential multifamily housing and commercial projects

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Sage, Bluebeam, Procore).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, building codes, and industry standards.
