This role is part of TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will lead the assembly, integration, and testing activities for satellite systems within Blue Origin's In-Space Systems division. In this critical role, you will ensure the successful assembly and integration of satellite components, oversee environmental testing campaigns, and implement test automation processes to maintain the highest standards of quality and reliability for Blue Origin's cutting-edge space systems. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Coordinate a team of engineers and technicians in the assembly, integration, and testing of satellite systems in a clean room environment 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain test procedures, protocols, and documentation for satellite integration and environmental testing 

  • Oversee the design and operation of hardware-in-the-loop test systems to validate satellite functionality and performance  

  • Manage environmental test campaigns including thermal vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC, and other qualification testing  

  • Drive process automation initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability of satellite assembly and test operations  

  • Establish and enforce quality control standards for clean room operations and satellite assembly  

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the assembly and test phases while maintaining project schedules  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design engineering, systems engineering, and operations to ensure successful integration of all satellite subsystems  

  • Manage propulsion system integration and testing activities with strict adherence to safety protocols  

  • Develop and optimize assembly line workflows to support production schedule and quality targets 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field 

  • 8+ years of experience in satellite or spacecraft assembly, integration, and test operations  

  • Demonstrated experience leading environmental test campaigns including thermal vacuum, vibration, and EMI/EMC testing 

  • Proficiency in test automation, data acquisition systems, and hardware-in-the-loop testing  

  • Experience with clean room operations and protocols for spacecraft assembly 

  • Strong knowledge of integration and test procedures for spacecraft propulsion systems 

  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams in a production environment 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering or related engineering field  

  • Background in developing and implementing process automation for spacecraft assembly operations 

  • Knowledge of industry standards for space systems testing (e.g., MIL-STD-1540, NASA standards)  

  • Experience with test data management systems and statistical analysis of test results 

  • Familiarity with spacecraft propulsion systems and associated test methodologies 

  • Project management certification or demonstrated experience managing complex technical projects  

  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles applied to spacecraft production 


 

Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $173,466.00 - $242,851.35 WA applicants is $183,193.00 - $256,469.85
