What will you do?
A day in the life of a Sr. Manager, Strategy at The North Face looks a little like this.
The Senior Manager, Global Strategy will report into the Director of Global Strategy and play a key role in building and executing the strategic plan, driving the Brand’s growth agenda, and supporting business development opportunities. The Senior Manager will lead structured problem-solving and analyze market trends and consumer data to support cross-functional teams in strategic decision-making; leading to brand health, sales growth and margin improvement. In addition, the Senior Manager will be expected to independently lead and implement cross-functional projects addressing strategic and operational topics in the Americas region and on a Global scale. This role will cover areas such as new growth initiatives, strategic brand management, competitive analysis, marketplace positioning, and brand expansion.

Actively support the Director of Global Strategy, VP of Global Strategy, the Global Brand President of The North Face, and the broader Global Leadership team in developing the Brand’s long-term strategic vision, and to communicate, execute, and measure progress against the plan.
Serve as an internal consultant and thought leader for key business stakeholders in vetting strategic ideas by leveraging analytical, problem solving, and strategic frameworks. Identify whitespace growth opportunities and develop plans for global and regional initiatives, including line extensions into new categories, new consumer segments and market development opportunities.
Support the ongoing strategic planning process; work with cross-functional leaders and brand executives to provide updates to the Executive Leadership Group as needed.
Lead projects and/or discrete analyses and present findings and recommendations to senior management as requested. In some cases, drive implementation across functional stakeholders.
Conduct comprehensive market and competitive landscape research, leverage consumer data, and run financial analyses to surface new opportunities to create value for consumers, customers, and shareholders.
Maintain the dashboard of strategic priorities for the Global Leadership Team. Assist in reporting to VF Corporate.
What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 3-6 years of experience top Management Consulting, Investment Banking, or Private Equity firm and professional achievements. Candidates with experience in Strategic Planning, Business Development, or a related field will also be considered. Experience with the application of market data and consumer insights in developing cross-functional business strategy considered a strong plus.
The foundation skills you will need in this position are:
Passion for working in an iconic outdoor brand and living the brand values
Experience related to the apparel and consumer/retail industry strongly preferred.
Demonstrated track record of exceptional academic and/or professional achievement.
Strong judgment, problem-solving and business acumen with ability to structure solutions to tough, ambiguous problems.
Distinctive communications and presentation skills, both written and verbal, including ability to distill large data sets and craft executive-level strategic narrative
