Job Summary

Operates and leads any position within the maintenance department and occasionally directs maintenance activities and personnel with assigned work orders.

 

Essential Functions

• Assists operators and maintenance employees in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Assists in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as pneumatic tools, motors, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment using testing instruments, hand and power tools and precision-measuring instruments.
• Installs functional and structural parts in devices or equipment.
• Dismantles devices to remove defective parts.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
• If qualified:  Installs power, lighting and control circuits and conduit.
• Repairs, maintains, replaces, installs and tests electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
• Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.  Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
• Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables using electrical hand tools and voltage or ampere measuring devices.
• Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
• Fault finds and repairs robots and related equipment, such as programmable controllers, robot controllers, end of arm tools and conveyors.  Reviews work orders and schematic diagrams to determine tasks to be performed.  Attaches wires to robot controller.  Connects cables between robot and robot controller.  Tests electrical components.  May locate and replace faulty printed circuit boards in robot controller.
• Directs the work activities of their team.  Delegates assignments to ensure the timely and efficient completion of projects.  Organizes work from work orders, estimates worker-hour requirements and delegates work to team members.
• Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Southwest Cheese non-negotiables.
• Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates. (Food Safety Modernization Act- FSMA, Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; or related experience
• Desire to grow with the company.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
