We are seeking a Manufacturing Manager to own the scalability and reliability of Sensor Chip Array & Integrated Dewar Cooler Assemblies (IDCA) internal Imaging production as well as own the establishment and scaling of suppliers and contract manufacturing partners.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Ownership and oversight of the manufacturing of SCA & IDCAs; both technical and commercial operations.
- As an on site presence, lead the transition and scaling of SCA & IDCA production from Engineering into mass production; continually driving operational maturation and continuous improvement in unclassified and classified spaces.
- Drive production results and communication through data-driven execution based on manufacturing performance metrics such as on-time delivery, cycle time (hours per unit), aging work in progress, cost of poor quality, and clear to build. Regularly communicates these key performance indicators to executive leadership.
- Staff, develop and drive process engineering and technician teams in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
- Create documentation required for successfully manufacturing hardware at scale.
- Develop staff to effectively manage process improvement activities including compliance to internal and customer policies such as safety, change control, training, contamination control, and quality assurance.
- Ensure performance tracking, documentation, process capability, process control and product quality which meets manufacturing best practices and AS9100 requirements.
- Manage the requirements of AS9100 so that the right balance is struck regarding the operation and development teams meeting the requirements in an efficient and expeditious manner; what requirements apply, when during product development, and to what degree.
- Evaluate, plan, and prioritize long-term and short-term value stream production and test optimizations which achieve production output goals & business objectives.
- Efficiently and effectively project manage Contract Manufacturing Partnership selection and standup of production lines which meet Business, Operational and AS9100 requirements.
- Be on site at current and future operations partners solving problems and managing technical and commercial needs for the value stream.
- Manage vertical integration or value stream diversification opportunities where strategic supply partnerships will accelerate the scalability of production output and product development.
- Proactively manage and communicate opportunities to address capacity, throughput and quality within internal and external value streams.
- Continuously evaluate opportunities for improvement, business cases and make vs buy decisions in the value stream; maximizing production capability, quality, scalability and reliability.
- Ensure AS9100 compliance throughout the value stream.
- Reduce complexity: commonality optimization & component/supplier rationalization.
- Support infrared program capture and customer interface with IDCA manufacturing concepts and specifications, proposal cost, and technical volume writing
- Travel 10-25%
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in a technical field such as engineering, math, or a hard science.
- 5+ years of Manufacturing Operations experience in areas: Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production management or in design of electro-optical mechanical hardware.
- 2+ years demonstrated track record transitioning IDCAs/electromechanical products from NPI to LRIP, including resource management/hiring for appropriate skill mix at each stage.
- 2+ years demonstrated direct experience in process engineering and production management of IDCAs (assembly & test) in a AS9100 (or similar) compliant environment.
- 2+ years Executive level reporting and communication experience
- 2+ years of project management experience
- 2+ years demonstrated leadership of supplier and contract manufacturer competency evaluations and transfer of design into productio
