A Day in the Life
In Medtronic Pelvic Health R&D, we focus on development of cutting edge medical devices and therapies that modulate the nervous system to treat patients suffering from overactive bladder, non-obstructive urinary retention, and fecal incontinence. The Pelvic Health product portfolio includes sacral neuromodulation, percutaneous tibial neuromodulation, and MyJourney therapy app. As a Senior Biomedical Engineer you will contribute to research and development of innovative new products, procedures, therapies and technologies using data insights.As a member of the Pelvic Health Research team you will propose, design, execute, and manage technology projects to investigate approaches to improve existing therapies and address new applications that aim to reduce our patient’s disease burden and improve their quality of life. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Develop core technical expertise in Pelvic Health technology and diseases they treat.
Responsible for the initiation, design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research projects including clinical studies.
Develop and communicate descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive insights/algorithms, including implementing and de-risking potential technology solutions, particularly for novel classifiers and algorithms. Use machine learning and statistical modeling techniques such as decision trees, logistic regression, Bayesian analysis and others to develop and evaluate algorithms.
Work with large scale computing frameworks, data analysis systems, and modeling environments.
Analyze data, write research reports, prepare and deliver presentation on the research, submit patent disclosures, and publish abstracts and manuscripts.
Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product Development, Regulatory and Clinical Research teams to support development of new therapies, products, and features.
Represent Medtronic Neuromodulation externally with our Customers and Key Opinion Leaders.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline and minimum 4 years of experience in Medical Device or related industry.
Or advance degree with minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Device or related industry.
Demonstrated domain knowledge in biomedical, health data, neuroscience, neuromodulation, neural engineering research or similar.
Experience with large data set processing for modeling, predictive analytics, and algorithm development using computing environments such as MATLAB, Python, or R.
Nice to Have
Experience leading or providing technology solutions for preclinical, clinical, benchtop, or computational research studies.
Proficiency in standard statistical methods with strong analytical, problem-solving, and experimental design skills for addressing complex technical challenges.
Experience in developing and conducting research on medical devices.
Experience with physiological signal processing.
Experience with machine learning libraries such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
Experience with large dataset management.
Dynamic team player with strong interpersonal and team skills who can work effectively and proactively on cross-functional and cross-business teams
Demonstrated strong verbal/written communication
Additional Job Requirements
Able to obtain and maintain credentialing for access to operating rooms, included up-to-date vaccinations.
Ability to travel locally and domestically within US up to 25% of the time.
