A caregiver in this position works rotating shifts from of 6:00 a.m. -- 2:30 p.m. OR 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday requirements
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
- Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
- Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
- Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
- Three years of office experience
- Upon hire, must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)
- In addition to the above requirement, upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee
- Please note: Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months.
- Can perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compound
OR
- Upon hire, must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
- Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) within 18 months
- Can perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compound<
