What you’ll do 

  

As a system engineer you will be part of a team responsible for the system design of the Steer by Wire system. You will work closely together with function owners, software engineers, electronics engineers, mechanical engineers and project management to ensure the design of the system. You will secure and follow up the realization of the functions and use cases, the integration in the vehicle architecture as well as the implementation and verification of the system design. You will also lead or support FMEA and Functional safety work (ISO26262).  

  

Your main day-to-day tasks are:  

  

  • Logic design and requirement balancing (SRD). 

  • Product Capability solutions, meaning allocation of requirements, component design and architecture. 

  • Review and handshake incoming requirements 

  • Communicate with stakeholders and suppliers 

  • Technical safety concept 

  • Supporting FMEA 

  • Support/lead safety related work 

  • Use case definition 

  • Contribute to the test strategy and test plan, including testcase review. 

  

Do you fit the profile? 

  

  • You have a technical education, preferably a master’s degree electrical/electronic engineering and at least 5 years’ experience in product development.  

  • You have proven communication skills  

  • You are self-organizing and drive your own business 

  • You leave your self-interest aside and work for what is best for the team and Volvo Cars 

  • You have experience working with ISO26262, especially Technical safety concept 

  • You have experience in FMEA 

  • You have delivered engineering documentation (Requirements) 

  • You have experience in system design within a safety-critical environment (ISO 26262 or similar) 

  • You are familiar with SystemWeaver (or other type of requirement handling frameworks) 

  • You are familiar with Matlab/Simulink and Vector tools
