We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Project Engineer to lead and manage all Supplier Request for Information (SRI) activities related to our pump product lines. In this role, you will be responsible for prioritizing and guiding a small team in addressing supplier and engineering change requests (CRs), while maintaining clear, professional communication with internal stakeholders and leadership at Collins.
This position requires a strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure internal processes are followed to maintain project efficiency and reduce engineering errors. The ideal candidate will act as a key liaison between engineering, supply chain, producibility, and production teams to drive timely resolution of supplier requests, support production transitions, and contribute to continuous product and process improvements.
What You Will Do
- Provide Project Engineering leadership and ownership for all SRI activity affecting pump product lines
- Prioritize and direct the work of small team in completing responses to supplier and engineering change requests (CRs)
- Confidently provide clear, concise communications with peers and Collins leadership.
- Resolve Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs) by providing clarifications and processing Change Requests (CRs)
- Pursue cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
- Read and interpret drawings, provide mark ups, and coordinate drawing changes
- Consolidate and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project.
- Verify internal processes are being executed to reduce probability of engineering turnbacks.
- Liaise between project management, supply chain, producibility, and production line management as necessary to prioritize SRI closure.
- Support piece part supplier transitions
- Feed back production issues and observations to the New Products team to support design and process improvements.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer
- Mechanical Engineering Degree
- Demonstrated leadership in a production role supporting aerospace rotating equipment is preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical hardware is preferred
- Experience working with cross-functional teams across department and business units is preferred
