Overview: 

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks an Industrial Hygiene (IH) Data Analyst fr the Safety & Operations Services Division. This position will mentor and provide technical support to IH monitoring activities and will work closely with the industrial hygiene analytical laboratory staff to ensure the accuracy and quality of all IH monitoring data that is being entered into the Comprehensive Tracking System (CTS) database.  The candidate must have a degree in industrial hygiene, safety & health, or science related field, and experience in the collection, evaluation, and reporting of IH monitoring data.

Major Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Identifies, tracks, and works with safety & health staff to ensure IH monitoring data is entered into CTS, peer reviews are performed, and results are reported back to individual(s)/customer(s) in a timely manner.

  • Provides monthly reports to the Group Leaders of field-deployed staff to identify IH surveys that have been open for more than 30 days or that were reported to the customer without obtaining a peer review.

  • Review all analytical data and calculated results entered into CTS. Ensures the accuracy of IH monitoring data entered into CTS. 

  • Ensures records related to the IH sampling process are clear and complete.

  • Ensures the quality of reports delivered to the customer are acceptable.

  • Ensures an evaluation/discussion of the IH monitoring results and the recommended actions or necessary controls are entered into CTS.

  • Develop job aids/tools to improve the consistent collection of sampling information.

  •  Participate in special projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in industrial hygiene/industrial safety or relevant technical field with a minimum of 7 years of experience, or a Masters of Science degree in industrial hygiene/industrial safety or relevant technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Familiarity with OSHA and NIOSH sampling and analysis methods.

  • Experience with the collection, documentation, and reporting of IH monitoring results.

  • Experience working with personal computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint and PowerPoint.

  • Experience working in a changing environment that requires interfacing with multiple research personnel and Facility support staff as a team player.

  • Skilled in verbal and written communications including report writing/sampling documentation.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CIH and/or CSP certifications

  • DOE related work experience

  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs
