About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead innovative design projects for underground high-voltage transmission cable systems. In this role, you will be responsible for developing complete cable system solutions for voltage ranges between 69kV and 500kV, serving as the go-to technical expert and working closely with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities:
- System Design: Create comprehensive cable system solutions—including accessories, link boxes, and fiber optic components—for voltage systems ranging from 69kV to 500kV.
- Technical Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert on underground HV/EHV cable system installations, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborative Development: Partner with Sales & Marketing to develop detailed technical specifications and compelling proposals for new projects.
- Manufacturing Support: Lead design handover meetings and work with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- R&D Leadership: Drive engineering investigations and research projects through the “Stage Gate” process to enhance product innovation and performance.
- Mentorship & Safety: Provide guidance to junior engineers and promote a robust safety culture throughout the engineering team.
- Travel: Approximately 15-20% travel for site assessments, customer visits, and industry conferences.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in designing underground high-voltage cable systems.
- Proficiency with Cymcap software for cable design.
- Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of presenting technical solutions effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in engineering software such as Comsol, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Matlab, PSCAD, and Pull Planner.
- In-depth knowledge of high-voltage standards including ICEA, AEIC, IEC, and IEEE.
- Programming skills, preferably with experience in Visual Basic for Excel macros.
