As an RN on this unit, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.
Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education, eligibility for tuition reimbursement and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.
A caregiver in this role works days from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assess health status by completing a nursing assessment.
Perform telephone triage.
Notify physician/LIP of abnormal findings.
Establish a care plan in collaboration with the patient, family, and health care team.
Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.
Assist with specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Assist with specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical department and medical specialty assigned.
Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician/LIP and monitors patients for response.
Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
Cover other nursing roles within the department
Provide health education to patients and families.
Develop, evaluate, adapt, and document education to learning needs.
Assist in preparation of the department specific education for patients and colleagues.
Facilitate smooth operation of the ambulatory areas.
Participate in quality initiatives, process improvements and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience and patient safety.
Some RN Ambulatory work may require travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures in various locations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an approved School of Nursing
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within six months of hire
One year of clinical experience as an RN
Demonstrated clinical competence
Ability to travel within Cleveland Clinic regional locations
