Do you have experience working with a cloud based data platform? And a strong interest in cloud native data technologies? Good! Because we are looking for our next Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Platform team.

We are Sinch. Even if you don’t know us by name or recognize our logo yet, chances are you have used our products in one way or other. We are a leading global Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS) provider – the connector between businesses and their customers. We make seamless communication possible between the two through our messaging, voice and video solutions.

Our APIs, platform and super network deal with over 600 billion engagements annually. Location: We would prefer you to be based next to the development team in Malmo, Sweden. However, other locations in Sweden or Europe can be considered for the right candidate

The essence of the role

The Sinch Data Platform powers data driven product features, machine learning, business intelligence and analytics across Sinch. We operate this platform in six locations around the world, processing billions of events per day. 

Joining the Data Platform team as a software engineer means that you'll be working with day-to-day software development to manage our modern, cloud native data platform infrastructure. You will handle complex requirements from stakeholders and guide and drive discussions to find solutions to agree around. We expect you to take ownership in driving, identifying, analyzing and solving complex problems and to give technical guidance to stakeholders and team members.

As our new Senior Software Engineer Data Platform, you will:

  • Drive, identify, analyze, and solve complex problems with our stakeholders and team.
  • Support business with needed infrastructure and other requirements on the data platform.
  • Drive best practices how we manage Data warehouse, Data lake, Data pipeline and Cloud infrastructure in a secure, cost efficient and lean way to meet the business, product and customer requirements.
  • Help spread knowledge about the Data Platform and build a professional network within Sinch to improve collaboration cross Business Units and functions.
  • Help provide support to other engineering teams using the Data platform across Sinch.
  • Work in close collaboration with the team. Supporting each other on day-to-day basis. 
  • Share and explore best practices in order to promote engineering excellence.

As part of the platform engineering team, it’s important that you enjoy collaboration both within the team but also taking ownership and drive your work without close supervision. You will be representing the data platform team in technical interactions with other teams, so it’s important that you are professional, friendly, and providing support when needed. You have a genuine curiosity about the area and are eager to stay up to date with latest industry developments. Striving for continuous learning and professional development is a natural part of you.

In order to contribute to this role, you have:

We believe you are a skilled engineer within data platforms and cloud technologies, but most important is your interest in cloud technologies and your eagerness of accelerating other teams using them.

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Operational experience managing Data Infrastructure.
  • Experience with Cloud providers and Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, GCP or Azure).
  • Experience with cloud scale data processing and data storage challenges, ideally Kubernetes, Snowflake, Terraform and Kafka experience.
  • Great communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Nice to have

  • Experience with CI/CD processes and GitOps (ArgoCD, FluxCD)
  • Knowledge of Cloud Network Infrastructure
