Job Summary:

The Data Compliance and Risk Management Specialist will ensure that our organization adheres to legal standards and internal policies related to data handling and security. This role involves thorough risk assessments, developing strategies to manage potential risks, ensuring compliance with data protection laws, and acting as a liaison with various regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities in the organization’s data handling and storage practices.

  • Develops risk management controls and systems designed to mitigate identified risks and ensure business continuity.

  • Monitors compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, and other relevant data protection regulations.

  • Keeps abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.

  • Develops and implements comprehensive policies and procedures to handle data according to legal and company guidelines.

  • Ensures policies are effectively communicated to all employees and stakeholders.

  • Provides training to company personnel on compliance-related topics, policies, or procedures.

  • Offers ongoing support and guidance to staff regarding new and existing compliance issues and related policies.

  • Coordinates with internal and external auditors to conduct audits and ensures recommendations are implemented.

  • Assists in tuning with all data privacy alerts.

  • Advises on and monitor data privacy and security measures, including data encryption, to secure company data against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.

  • Investigates and resolves compliance issues, breaches, and violations and reports them as necessary.

  • Other job related duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Must have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree

  • Proven experience in an IT Security role for a minimum of two years. Prefer three or more years.

  • Sound knowledge of data processing operations and IT systems.

  • Prefer candidates with Microsoft Azure experience.

  • Strong understanding of the industry’s standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, SOX).

  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or similar certification preferred.
