Human Resources Intern (Autism in the Workplace Program)

This internship is part of the Simons Foundation’s Autism in the Workplace program. We strongly encourage autistic candidates to apply. Our program includes support for interns and guidance for hiring teams in order to make the internship a successful and rewarding experience.
The Simons Foundation Human Resources (HR) team is seeking an intern who is interested in learning about many aspects of HR at a non-profit foundation. The intern may participate in learning opportunities in recruitment, employee engagement, learning and development, and/or benefits.
The HR intern will work onsite in our offices in New York City. The expected schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This temporary internship is expected to run from May 27 until August 14.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct internet research and update resources and contact information on spreadsheets accordingly.
- Complete online trainings and provide written summaries and feedback.
- Read relevant HR articles and provide written summaries.
- Create one page information sheet for candidates visiting the office.
- Research relevant HR vendors as needed.
- Archive, scan, and file documents.
- Format and update documents and templates as needed.
- Audit and organize data in HR systems.
- Attend team meetings and take meeting minutes when requested.
- Assist with additional tasks and projects as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is required.
- Skilled in organizing information, data, and files.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn and contribute to the responsibilities of the team.
- Interest in exploring a career in human resources.
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and discretion.
